Nadru Churme

Lotus stem chips known as Nadru Churma in kashmiri presents a delightful alternative to traditional French fries. These crispy, deep-fried nadru pieces, seasoned with a combination of salt and Kashmiri red chili powder, offer a unique and flavorful snacking experience.

INGREDIENTS

Serves: 2-4

  • Lotus Stems (Nadru)

  • Oil

  • Red Chili Powder

  • Salt

½ kg

1 cup

½ tsp

To taste

RECIPE

STEP 01

Peel the lotus stems.

STEP 02

Cut them into small pieces (approximately 2 inches long).

STEP 03

Further cut each piece either into halves or quarters lengthwise, depending on the thickness of the nadru.

STEP 04

Clean the nadru with a toothpick.

STEP 05

Heat oil in a kadhai. When hot, add the nadru and fry until golden.

STEP 06

Once done, remove nadru from the kadhai and place it on a paper napkin to remove excess oil.

STEP 07

Before serving, sprinkle some chili powder and salt to taste.
