Kehwa Chai

Kashmiri Kehwa Chai is a fragrant green tea infused with various spices, including saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, and with chopped almonds. It's often sweetened with honey or sugar and is known for its soothing and refreshing taste.

Kehwa Chai

INGREDIENTS

Serves: 2-4

  • Water

  • Kehwa Leaves

  • Cinnamon Powder

  • Green Cardamom Powder

  • Almonds, chopped

  • Honey/Sugar

  • Saffron Strands

4 cups

1 tbsp

To taste

RECIPE

STEP 01

To a saucepan add 4 cups of water.

STEP 02

Add crushed kehwa leaves, saffron and cardamom powder and allow it to boil.

STEP 03

Once boiled add cinnamon powder and sugar (If using honey skip adding sugar here).

STEP 04

Add chopped almonds to all the cups.

STEP 05

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the flavors infuse for a minute or two.

STEP 06

Strain the kehwa into cups.

STEP 07

If sugar is not added, add honey in cups as per taste.

STEP 08

Serve hot and enjoy the mild, soothing flavors of this unique tea.

  • Don't over boil the kehwa.
  • Add cinnamon powder when kehwa is ready.
  • For medicinal value, a tablespoon of lemon juice can be added to a cup of kehwa.
